Thames Stroke Support Group
The Thames Stroke Support Group offers support & Friendship to Stroke People & their families. We are a self sufficient group and we run 2 raffles a year to augment funds.
The Thames Stroke Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 10am until approximately 1:30 pm. Transport is available. Venue: Salvation Army Hall, Pollen St. Thames.
Come and enjoy the great company of other Stroke People and their families. We can offer friendship, music, fun outings, (in 2009 a potato growing competition & a trip to Wellington) — the latter was a big adventure!! This year we are planning a trip to Christchuch.
We have an enthusiastic bowls group and some of the members play cards. Other activities are exercises and interesting speakers, an annual dance and Easter bonnet competition.
Our Group’s Secretary Margaret produces a (roughly quarterly) newsletter and she attends the local Age wise meetings & Community Health forums on behalf of the group.
